USRobotics had its day - before there was high-speed internet. Not to mention that the logic they may be using could include unrealistic expectations of product support and none of the blame goes on themįor not researching before they just bought something (at Wal~Mart.) to use. No - I just hate when people react like the sky is falling around them for small stuff and they have obvious options. You work for them or something you seem really tense? If you wanted to use it for something outside those specifications. Just reading the packing material (outside of the box) for that modem told you what it was made for. ) Even if they do - it's not like the system requirements and such are secret. Just because you bought it from Wal~Mart (really - I am sure Wal~Mart only sells the latest/greatest.) doesn't mean USRobotics is still selling it. Some have been able to hex edit driver files and make But I was just hoping someone could help me with what I had.
So there is no reason why they can't make a driver for Windows Vista /7 64. So why was USRobotics selling decade old junk? The fact is I should not have to buy another USRobotics should make a driver or replace it. I bought the modem from wal-mart about 2 years ago. That work in Windows 7 64-bit, being as cheap as 25 USD after shipping online - it's difficult to see why replacing it wouldn't be the best solution given the limitations. That one being so old and replacements, even USRobotics

The modem was released more than a decade ago - it may or may not work with some built-in drivers in Windows (any Edition/Architecture) without drivers beyond the default.
Even modems made by USRobotics that are Windows 7 64-bit compatible.Īs far as them lying - not really. Perhaps purchasing another PCI modem and swapping it out would give you the compatibility with a modern operating system you need without having to change anything else? Many of them out there. "Compatible with Microsoft Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows Me, Windows 2000, or Windows XP operating system (Unimodem TSP/TAPI compliant)" Given that particular products' age - it is surprising it worked in Vista even. They should put stricter regulations on these corporations.

If it had the right driver it would work on 64 bit os. I will never buy another USRobotics product ever again.
